Saturday Market

The markets are slowly getting better every week. Today the bannock people were there, and we were lucky enough to get a piece (up to $3 now), they ran out well before the market closed. Look what I got!
Asparagus plants! How cool are they, I'm very excited. In two years (fingers crossed) we will be able to pick aspragus right out of our back yards. This is some new hybrid that apparantly is easier to tend. Check back with me in two years and see if we're eating asparagus from our garden. If not, I'm out two bucks.

We have a little teeney fountain in our backyard, and now it has a water hyacinth in it.

Spinach! I see many yummy salads in our future this week.

Two years! When those grow, you will be crowing so loud I'll hear you!
Fun to have the water plant!

Oh yes Tanna, if these things do sprout actual asparagus, you WILL hear me! And then be forced to read post after post about me cooking it. Won't that be fun?? :)

Growing asparagus! How fun! I'm searching for a rhubarb plant, myself, which also takes two years to go!

Rachel - does rhubarb really need two years? So the plant I bought last week I shouldn't touch for two years?

What fun to grow your own asparagus. There is a guy I know that used to bring asparagus to work by the pound for us. He is no longer a patinet but I still visit his farm:D

Are you sure that is an asparagas plant and not an asparagas fern which has nothing to do with asparagas?? I always thought asparagas had to be grown from as. stems....

But that 's jsut me.

Anony - well, that's what the lady selling them said.
