journaling

i have been pretty inconsistent with journaling this year, but i have been inconsistent with pretty much everything this year!  so, it's not doing better or worse than anything else in my life i suppose.

i have been the most consistent with my book journal.  i fear i am not on track to meet my goal of 80 books read this year, but i'll try my best.  i have been reading mostly from the library and libby app this year.  support libraries!!!!

i started keeping a media journal this year for the tv shows and movies we watch.  it's nothing more than a monthly list of the show name but it works for me.

we went to Vancouver this summer and i have a big bag of stuff for my junk journal.

while there i got to go to a stationary store - i was SO excited!  unfortunately for me, it was very very small and didn't have a lot of the stuff i was looking for - accessories and fun stuff mostly.  but i bought a journal and a few pens.

Journalling - take 3 (or 74)

I am trying journalling again to keep organized, and well, it's sort of working? A little? Mostly, I just get more anxious that I am not getting anything I have listed down actually done. So that's fun.

I am using a (new since last time) dollar store notebook, and doing  a calendar page for each month to note things happening, a to-do page for each month, where nothing gets crossed off....and then pages for lists I need in the month.  Like this list for a potluck in December.

Each month I start a new set of calendar pages and a new to do list, and transfer all the undone to do's to the new list.  And then close the book and run away.

I also have some pages set aside for books I want to read, things to research, recipes to try.  I tried menu planning in the notebook as well, but that didn't work for me.

I fell off the wagon the past couple of months, but am trying to get back to it.  It is pretty satisfying to cross things off the to-do list page, I must say.
Another wagon I fell off of hard is the fitness/healthy weight wagon, and that one has been verrrrrry difficult to get back on track.  (Spoiler alert - I am not back on track.)  I wondered if some sort of exercise/healthy habit tracking page might help?
I found a recent layout for tracking health/mental health that I have just started to try.
It's too early to say if it's having a positive impact, but we'll see.
Anyone out there  got some good inspiration for health tracker layouts for journals - or any inspiration at all - let me know!

Morning photo

This photo contains 3 things I love -

Smoothies
Bacon and scrambled eggs with seasoned salt
My new daily journal

I'd like to think I'm a fairly organized person, but I'm not.
I'd like to think I have a good memory, which is also not true.
I feel like I am constantly forgetting things, which sadly is VERY true, so I was quite interested when I happened across some information on Bullet Journaling. There is way too much to say about it, but it's a system - a flexible system - of organizing a notebook into keeping your appointments, tasks, goals, lists, pretty much whatever you want to track.

I bought myself a $1.25 notebook and $1.00 worth of small labels at the dollar store to get started.  Then I read some posts over at Miss Zoot, thought about what my goals were with this system, and got started.  I made myself a page for goals/tasks for the month, some pages for notes I think I'll use (Stuff to Know, Gift Ideas, Movies to see, Books to Read), and then a section for daily happenings.

I've been using the notebook for just under a month now and I'm so happy with it.  I use a couple of elastic bands to keep it shut and throw it in my purse so I've always got it with me in case I need to add something.  (Which I did yesterday!  I felt so grown up pulling it out and adding a note.  Go me.)
I try to remember to check it every morning for not only that day, but the week.

I definitely feel more organized and while I still don't accomplish as much as I'd like in the timeliest of manners, I'm feeling more like I've got a hold of things, and that's important to me.

Check out Miss Zoot's posts, and there's tons of stuff (obvs) if you google bullet journal.
