I read rom the 6/21 comment that there was a peanut butter and bacon spread. Yes there was, but it was marketed well forward of the 20's. My grandfather had a specialty store in Detroit, and he would bring me jars of this delicacy. I believe that it was made by Crosse & Blackwell, although I do not see it in the current listing of products. The best recreation is 1 small jar of peanut butter to 1 pound of bacon (cooked very crisp and finely chopped). Whip the two ingredients together with about 2 teaspoonfuls of confectioner's sugar and refrigerate for a few hours before using to let the flavors mingle. Yum!

Sara,
What a riot. Glad Scott liked it. My dad used to eat bacon, pb, jelly and mayo sandwiches. It was disgusting to me but hey, each his own right?
Wonderful!
A little mayo would work too!
Fabulous!
Ahahaha, great post...Marcel Marceau, eat your heart out!
Anything with bacon and I am good to go.
Ah! I love it. This is a childhood fave of mine. Perfection with a glass of chocolate milk!

Haha, super cute post! And an interesting combo. If I get the courage to, I might try that some day =)
Very cleaver! The combo of pb and bacon sounds weird, but I think I like it...

Genius.
And actually, I believe that a peanut butter and bacon spread was actually marketed in the 20s, and it was wildly popular.
Great post.
