Sandwich Week! Day Six

And we're back to finish off Sandwich Week!.

Today's sandwich is a really fun one and one of Scott's new favorites. We use our George Foreman grill for 2 things - cooking sausages and making Paninis. See here, here, and here for some lovely sandwiches we've made with good old George.

Day Six's Sandwich is...

Antipasto Panini

This one could not be easier (although it can get a bit pricey - those deli counters aren't cheap for stuff like this) - Bread, cheese and some marinated antipasto vegetables from the deli.

There's some roasted garlic, which we smooshed up and smeared on the bread, and olives, marinated mushrooms, and hot peppers. We sliced those bad boys up, layered them on the bread with the cheese and threw them in the George until the bread was golden and the cheese was melted.

Deelish.

Daily Question - If you could only eat ONE type of sandwich for the rest of your life, what would it be? Tell me in the comments.

Trivia Question 6 - What does antipasto mean? Write down your answers to the questions so far and email them to me on Day 7. I've got a prize for the winner!

For the rest of my life, one sandwich...
Great bread like focaccia with leftover grilled veggies and cheese on my pannie grill!
Probably a lot like the one you have here!
This is a great series!

Although my favorite sammich is the bacon one.. I think if I had to eat the same sammich over and over again for the rest of my life it'd be tuna. But I'd have to vary it once in a while.. sometimes cold on wheat bread, sometimes grilled with cheese on sourdough bread.. yanno..

I heart paninis - even bought the damn "Griddler" with an Xmas gift card last year. Have used it once. I need to make more paninis at home!! I'd kill for this veggie/cheese one too.. I crave stuff like that. *drool*

If I had to only eat one sandwich forever, it would be peanut butter and my homemade strawberry jam.
I love that stuff.
But thankfully life doesn't consist of just one sandwich forever.
This is such a fun contest. I am learning so much.

Give me a clam roll from the Ipswich Clam Box for the rest of my life and I will die a happy camper; an early death mind you becuase of the fried clams that clarified butter is then drizzled over and then served with homemade mayo and on a toasted New England hot dog bun. But happy non the less... Oh man. Only 24 days until the Clam Box opens!!!

One for life, eh? A classic, home made BLT. If we're going to do it right, all ingredients should be from the farmer's market, which probably means only in summer, right?

John had never had a BLT not from a restaurant until last summer. Call him converted now!

The questions just keep getting harder and harder, only one sandwich?!? Why don't I just lay down and die!
But it would have to be something warm, maybe a grilled cheese. But lobster rolls are very hard to turn down. And grilled veggies sandwiches are pretty delicious. And what about the bacon, the BACON???

I need to second Brilynn's comments about your questions - how, my dear friend, am I, ME of all people, to pick but one sandwich?

But, pick I must, so I have thought about it all day. The only answer I can come up with is the Grass-fed Hamburger. What other sandwich can satiate the need for something in the hand, yet substantial. The hamburger is a chameleon and can be what you need it to be. Simple, fun to eat and cook? Sure, just a little ketchup and it’s wonderful. Need to add a little umph (bammage, as it were?) A slice of cheese and, literally, holy cow! Need a little veggies? Add lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles – oh, boy! What about the one thing that makes life worth living? Of course, I speak of bacon!! And the hamburger and bacon are God’s little gift on a bun. And run from there!

So, the grass-fed hamburger is taste on a bun and can be condimented (is that a word?) beyond your wildest dreams.

People, I give you – THE HAMBURGER!

Tanna grilled veggies and paninis are made for each other.

Lis - it's hard to pick only one, isn't it. I think I'd go with ham.

Robin - ok I take it back, pb&j for me too.

Mary - I have never had a clam. Are they like oysters?

PW - how could he never have had a blt before?? poor boy.

Brilynn - oh I don't want you to die... ok you can have two!

Mike - condimented is now in my vocabulary.
